Known Trivia

  • The role of Brooke was offered to Jessica Biel but she declined.
  • Cuban actor William Levy was offered a role but declined.
  • Channing Tatum originally wanted Nicolas Winding Refn to direct the film but Refn had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts with Only God Forgives.
  • The character of Tarzan, portrayed by Kevin Nash, wears a knee brace during his routine and goes with the idea that stripping is all his character knows and is doing it past his prime. This wasn’t in the script but came about when Nash showed up on set with the brace on and explained that he wouldn’t be able to do the routine properly unless he wore it. Kevin Nash is a professional wrestler with a history of knee problems.
  • The film is loosely based on Channing Tatum’s experiences as a male exotic dancer before hitting it big as a movie star.
  • Director Joe Johnston can be seen as one of Mike’s phone contacts.
  • Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer allegedly did not get along on set.
  • In the scene where Dallas (Matthew McConaughey) finally strips, there is a point where he rolls away from all of the women holding his crotch. This is because the extras got a little bit too excited and accidentally ripped his g-string. Instead of stopping the dance, he just incorporated it in.

Goofs: Continuity: In the striptease done in July, Big Dick Richie's pants clearly split at the side seam shortly after he takes off his shirt, in future shots, they are no longer split.

Plot: A male stripper teaches a younger performer how to party, pick up women, and make easy money. Full summary »  »

Story: Mike Lane is a thirty-year old living in Tampa,Florida. By day he works as a roofer whilst at night,as Magic Mike,he is the star attraction of the Kings of Tampa,a group of male strippers. Secretly he wants out in order to further a projected furniture-making business but his credit rating precludes a bank loan for this despite his considerable savings. One night Adam,a teen-aged work-mate of Mike, follows him to the club and, when one of the acts is unable to go on,he is prevailed upon to strip – becoming a huge hit. However success goes to his head and his foolish actions not only threaten to jeopardise his sister Brooke's relationship with Mike but Mike's ambitions as well.Written by don @ minifie-1

Synopsis: When your life is a fantasy, how do you deal with reality?

As a male stripper, Magic Mike (Channing Tatum) has everything he could ever want parties that last all night, hot girls and superfluous money. He takes a younger performer under his wing, teaching him the ropes on how to be the best. As he keeps at the top of the game in the clubs, Mike struggles with trying to develop a relationship with a girl he really likes. Will he have to choose between his dream world and real life?

The dramatic comedy screenplay was inspired by Tatum’s work as a 19-year-old stripper before he made it in Hollywood.
